At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Hellenic Republic are extraditing Nodar MALASHKHIA for prosecution and sering his sentence.
In July 2018, the Central District Court of the city of Sochi, Krasnodar Territory, found him guilty of committing crimes under Article 105, part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder) and Article 222, part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal bearing of firearms). Taking into account the cassation ruling of the Judicial Chamber on Criminal Cases of the Fourth Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction dated October 12, 2020, he was sentenced to 1 year 10 months in prison with restriction of liberty for a period of 1 year 6 months.
The court established that on August 25, 2017 in Sochi, MALASHKHIA and his friends arrived at the house of a friend to sort things out. During the quarrel, which escalated into a mutual fight, the victim took out a gun and fired into the air. After that, MALASHKHIA inflicted several blows on his head, and then, taking possession of the pistol, shot him in the back. The man died from his wounds.
Since MALASHKHIA fled from law enforcement agencies, he was put on the wanted list.
In November 2020, in connection with his detention in Greece, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation forwarded a request for his extradition to foreign colleagues.
Thanks to successful interaction with the competent authorities of the Hellenic Republic, it was possible to achieve a positive decision.
Accompanied by a special convoy, Nodar MALASHKHIA will be transferred to Moscow.
