Russian citizen accused of murder was extradited from Poland

Today, on 25 October 25, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kovalev was extradited from the Republic of Poland. He is accused of the crime under Art. 105 (1) of the RF CC (murder).

During the investigation, it was established that on 02.12.2018, Kovalev being near house number 10, building 3, Sennaya street, inflicted multiple stab wounds with his knife to the citizen in the head, trunk, with damage to the left lung, kidney and other organs. The man died from injuries in a hospital (GBU RO “BSMP”), where he was hospitalized from the scene.

A decision was made to arraign Kovalev as an accused, his search was announced and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen.

The criminal case against Kovalev is dealt with by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Ryazan Region.

In connection with the information of NCB Poland about the detention of Kovalev in its territory on 21 October 2018, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation sent a request for his extradition to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Poland.

Owing to the coordinated actions of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and organized close cooperation with the competent authorities of the Republic of Poland, it was possible to reach a decision on the extradition of Kovalev to the Russian Federation.

The Federal Penitentiary Service and NCB of Russia received and delivered Alexander Kovalev to the territory of the Russian Federation.
