On Extradition to Russia from Germany of Nodari Tamoev Accused of Murder

Today, on 19 November 2015, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany extradited Nodari Tamoev to Russia.

The investigative authorities accuse him of the crimes stipulated by Article 213 (2) (hooliganism committed with the use of a weapon by a group of persons by prior collusion), Article 105 (2 "f" and "i") (homicide committed by generally dangerous method for hooligan motives), Article 30 (3), Article 105 (2 "a", "f", "g", "i") (attempted homicide of more than two persons committed by generally dangerous method by a group of persons by prior collusion for hooligan motives), and Article 222 (1) (illegal acquisition, possession and carrying of firearms and ammunition) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

A criminal case against Mr. Tamoev is being dealt with by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Stavropol Territory.

According to investigators, on 21 November 2009 in Essentuki of the Predgorny District of the Stavropol Territory, Mr. Tamoev together with accomplices committed homicide of his friend who was invited to the meeting under a pretext to discuss the alleged debt obligations. In addition, they attempted to murder three more people with the use of weapons.

Given Mr. Tamoev fled from criminal prosecution, he was put on the federal wanted list in November 2010, and in April 2013 – on international wanted list.

In October 2015 he was detained in Germany.

In November 2015, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation submitted to the Ministry of Justice of the Federal Republic of Germany a request for his extradition, which was successfully allowed.

Today, Mr. Tamoev is extradited to Russia accompanied by the servicemen of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the Russian NCB of Interpol.
