- The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation
Today, June 24, 2015, upon the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Czech Republic will extradite the citizen of the Russian Federation, Josef Kikozashvili, to Russia with the view to enforcing the sentence of the Khamovnichesky District Court of Moscow.
The court found Mr Kikozashvili guilty of the fact that in Moscow, in 2007, by prior collusion with other individuals and using forged documents, he re-registered the proprietary rights to Agrokhiminvest OJSC non-residential premises to the entity controlled by him.
As a result of the crime, Agrokhiminvest OJSC incurred losses of more than 12 million roubles.
In July 2010, Josef Kikozashvili was sentenced by the Khamovnichesky District Court of Moscow for committing criminal offences stipulated by Article 159 (4) (swindling committed by a group of persons by prior collusion, on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation with application of Article 64 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, to 3 years 6 months imprisonment.
During Mr Kikozashvili’s trial, he was subject to a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave. As Mr Kikozashvili did not appear in court for sentencing and absconded from the law enforcement authorities, he was placed on the federal wanted list in July 2010, and on the international wanted list in September 2014.
In February 2015, he was arrested in the Czech Republic.
In March 2015, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation submitted a request to the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic for his extradition to Russia, which was approved in May 2015.
Today, Josef Kikozashvili will be extradited to Russia under the escort of officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the Russian National Central Bureau of INTERPOL.
