On extradition of the Russian Federation citizen Sergey Bogdansky accused of so-called "racketeering" from Spain to Russia

Today, on 29 January 2015, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain extradite the Russian Federation citizen Sergey Bogdansky to Russia. The investigative agencies accuse him of commission of crimes under Article 30 Part 3, Article 105  Part 2 paragraphs " f, g, h" (assault to murder, i.e. deliberate intent to murder another person, committed in dangerous way by a group of persons by previous concert, by hire, Article 115 (purposeful infliction of light damage to health having resulted in a short-term health disorder), Article 222 Part 1 (illegal purchase, transfer, storage, transportation of firearms and ammunition) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.  The criminal case against Bogdanskiy is pending by Priority Case  Investigation Department of the Chief Investigations Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow city.  The investigation found that in November-December 1999, in Moscow  Bogdansky with an accomplice agreed to kill the director of LLC"Alena", which refused to pay them money from the profit of the firm. For this purpose, they created an organized criminal group, after having promising its members to pay five thousands U. S. dollars each for the murder. To realize the idea, guns and cartridges to be used thereof were purchased. In March 2000,  in the evening, near the office of LLC "Alena" two members of the criminal group fired shots in the director as a result of which he and the woman which was with him at that moment  received gunshot wounds of various degrees of harm to health. The accomplices failed to consummate the crime, as the used gun went wrong and the victims were provided timely medical care.  Since Bogdansky fled from law enforcement authorities, in September 2006 he was put on a federal wanted list and in January 2008  -  on the international wanted list. In June 2008, in connection with information on the emigration of Bogdanskiy to Isral the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation sent the extradition request to the competent authorities of this state. In June 2013 Bogdansky was detained at the airport in Madrid. In July 2013 the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation sent to the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain the extradition request, which was satisfied in May 2014. After making the decision on extradition Bogdansky requested the Spanish authorities for granting him of refugee status, however his application was rejected. Accompanied by a special escort Sergey Bogdansky will be transferred from Madrid to Moscow.
