Today, on December 26, 2014, the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Thailand deported to Russia the Russian Federation citizen Igor Cherkesov. In November 2012, by the judgment of the Sverdlovsk District Court of Irkutsk, he was sentenced in absentia under Article 188 Part 2 (illegal trafficking, i.e. conveyance of potent substances across the customs border of the Russian Federation, concealing them from customs control combined with the non-declaration) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to 5 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. In April 2013, the sentence has entered into force. It was found that in February 2010 Cherkesov in Thailand bought drugs, containing potent substances and smuggled them to Russia. Since convicted Cherkesov fled from enforcement of judgment, in June 2014 the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation took the measures for his international search. After locating Cherkesov in Thailand in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand and Interpol's National Central Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation the measures for deportation of Cherkesov to Russia were taken. Today, accompanied by members of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation and the Russian bureau of Interpol Igor Cherkesov is deported to Russia.
