The authorities continue to prosecute the accomplices of Boris Berezovsky both in Russia and abroad
Text

The Correctional Court of Marseilles (France) considers the criminal case against French citizen Jean-Louis Bordes.

He is accused of legalizing (laundering) property which represents the proceeds of crime in association with Boris Berezovsky by conducting the sales transactions with Clocher de la Garoupe and Chateau de la Garoupe mansions on the French Mediterranean coast (Cap d'Antibes).

The specified property objects were acquired through funds stolen in Russia by Berezovsky and the participants of the transnational criminal community founded by him.
Jean-Louis Bordes was charged under eight French Penal Code articles carrying a lengthy term of deprivation of liberty. The similar charges were brought against Berezovsky by the Court of Marseilles but on July 31, 2013 the criminal prosecution against him was terminated due to his death in March 2013.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation is in constant interaction with the French competent authorities receiving necessary information on the ongoing prosecution of Jean-Louis Bordes. The trial results may include the decision of possible seizure of Clocher de la Garoupe and Chateau de la Garoupe mansions in favor of the Russian State and our domestic companies, which were affected by the unlawful acts of Berezovsky and his accomplices.

As a part of the said interaction, the French Ministry of Justice sent the official judgment text of the Court of Major Jurisdiction of Marseilles, dated June 17, 2014, on the seizure of Chateau de la Garoupe property.

Back in July 2007, the Basmanny Court of Moscow issued a ruling ordering the seizure of the Clocher de la Garoupe mansion, which resulted in putting this property under judicial mortgage by the Court of Major Jurisdiction of Marseilles.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation aims to seek the maximum compensation of damage inflicted by Berezovsky and the seizure of the proceeds of crime wherever it is located or regardless of its formal ownership by other registered persons or nominees.
