Today, on August 29, 2014, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation held the meeting between the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Pak Myong Cher.
High ranking officials of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Democratic People's Republic of Korea Han Soon Bong participated in the meeting.
Welcoming his guest, Yuri Chaika acknowledged the long history of friendly relations between Russia and the DPRK based on mutual interest in strengthening international security and strategic partnership.
Yuri Chaika briefed his guests on the structure of the Russian prosecutorial authorities, main functions and areas of work of Russian prosecutors.
The Russian Prosecutor General highly appreciated the cooperation between the two countries in all the key areas of activities based on the Cooperation Agreement between the Prosecutor’s Offices of the Russian Federation and North Korea signed in December 2010.
In addition, as noted by Yuri Chaika, this year in June, a meeting of representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Prosecutor's Office of the DPRK was held in Pyongyang. The participants shared experience in the organization of work on the most important areas, which was useful for both parties.
In turn, Pak Myong Cher thanked Yuri Chaika for the reception and said that the friendship of the DPRK and Russia had a long history, and its very dynamic development had been indeed evidence of this. He stressed that this year was significant for the two countries since exactly 65 years ago the first agreement on economic and cultural cooperation between the USSR and the DPRK was signed. Pak Myong Cher also praised the cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Offices of the two countries in the light of the agreement.
The Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika expressed confidence that the meeting would contribute to the progressive development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of human rights and combating transnational organized crime.
