On the extradition of the Russian citizen Vladimir Zhukov who is accused of embezzlement of budget funds from Belarus

At the request of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Belarus extradited the Russian citizen Vladimir Zhukov to Russia. He is accused of committing a crime under Art. 160 Part 4 (embezzlement of another’s property entrusted to the offender using his official position in an especially big amount) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The criminal proceedings against Zhukov are conducted by the Investigative Committee Department of the Russian Federation in Irkutsk Region.

The investigation found that Zhukov, being a mayor of the Angarsk Municipality, committed embezzlement of budget funds in the amount of RUR 1.3 million in the period from October 2012 to February 2014 by a group of persons acting by prior agreement.

As Zhukov fled from prosecution, in April 2014 he was put on the federal wanted list, and in June 2014 he was put on the international wanted list.

In connection with the establishment of his location in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, in June 2014 the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation forwarded the request for his extradition to the competent authorities of the Republic of Belarus and the request was satisfied in July 2014.

Vladimir Zhukov was delivered from Minsk to Moscow accompanied by a special escort.
