Today, on July 25 to year, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the United Arab Emirates extradited the Russian citizen Vladimir Vagin to Russia. He is charged with assault to murder using a knife in March 2009 (Article 30 Part 3, Article 105 Pat 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The criminal proceedings against Vagin are conducted by the Investigative Department of Nizhegorodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod of the Investigative Administration of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Since Vagin fled from criminal prosecution, in April 2009, he was put on the federal wanted list and international wanted list. Vagin, using his criminal connections, being a so-called thief-in-law known as Vagon, tried to flee from the Russian law enforcement authorities and Interpol member countries for a long time.
Detention of Vagin in February 2010 in the UAE and his subsequent extradition was made possible by the professionalism, coherence and consistency of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the competent authorities of the United Arab Emirates. In February 2010, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the Ministry of Justice of the United Arab Emirates a request for the extradition of Vagin, which was satisfied in July 2014.
Today Vagin is delivered to Moscow and detained in one of the detention centers.
