The Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor Office of the Supreme Court of the Greek Republic and the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation was signed in Saint-Petersburg for 2015 – 2016

Today, on June 27, 2014, the meeting of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika with Prosecutor General of the Supreme Court of the Greek Republic Evterpy Kudzamani was held in Saint-Petersburg. 

Participants of this event were the executive officers of the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme Court of the Greek Republic. 

Greeting the guests, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika noted that over the years the cooperation between Russia and Greece become strengthened and productive. He informed that within development of the Memorandum of Cooperation, signed in April 2010, the interdepartmental contacts have regular nature, it was implemented for the Program of Cooperation for 2011 – 2012 and in December the Program for 2013 - 2014 should be completed. 

Within the scope of programs it was performed for the events, based on core activities of the Prosecutor Office of Russia and Greece, it was performed for experience exchange to gain actual results in the sphere of protection of rights and liberty of the citizens, response to criminality. 

In the course of the meeting Yuri Chaika and Evterpy Kudzamani signed the Program of Cooperation for 2015 – 2016. 

The document provides for performance of a range of “round tables’ and seminars for the purposes of experience exchange and qualification course of staff of prosecutor offices of two countries. 

For 2015 the Program provides for performance of two “round tables” in respect of the matters of preventing and avoiding money laundering received on an unlawful basis and terrorism financing, as well as ratio of immigration law and extradition law in Greece and Russia: recognition and execution of the decisions of third countries in respect of granting of a status of refugee migrant, citizenship. 

In 2016 there will be hold for two “round tables’ aimed at actual topics connected with return of corruption assets and formation of national contact points related to the matters of anti-corruption enforcement, as well as improvement of cooperation between prosecution agencies of the Greek Republic and the Russian Federation in struggle with trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors. 

At the end of the meeting the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika expressed his firm focus on comprehensive deepening and development of the Russian and Greek relations, highly appreciates the level of interdepartmental cooperation that is “was a bright example of successful consolidation of efforts of the competent authorities of the countries in the activities aimed at ensuring of supremacy of statutory law and protection of rights of the citizens.”
