- The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation
Today, June 11, 2014, according to the demand of the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of French Republic will extradite Russian citizen Nikita Myagkov to Russia. Bodies conducting investigation accuse him of committing crimes set out in part 1 of the Article 222 (Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, or bearing of firearms, ammunition, explosives, or explosive device), paragraph (g), part 2 of the Article 105 (Murder, committed by a group of persons, under a preliminary conspiracy) of the Criminal Code Of the Russian Federation.
The criminal proceedings against Myagkov are conducted by the District Court in Kemerovo region.
The initial investigation disclosed that in the end of August, 2004 Myagkov purchased two pistols that were remade from IZH-79 gas pistols, and cartridges in a total number of 16.
On August, 27, 2004 in Novokuznetsk, motivated by a personal grudge based on repartitions of spheres of influence in alcohol business in Pritomsky village, with an accomplice in the crime, Myagkov, armed with the weapon purchased, near a shop situated in the area of bus station, fired at least two shots into the head and abdomen of a male person, inflicting wounds that led to his instant death.
Being under a travel restriction, Myagkov failed to appear at a judicial session and evaded trial, and therefore was declared wanted.
In June, 2011, upon the report of INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) for France, Myagkov was detained due to committing a crime in the territory of this state. The review indicated that Myagkov was also sought by Russian law enforcement agencies for committing homicide and illicit firearms trafficking.
In November, 2011 the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation transmitted the request to the Ministry of Justice of France for extradition of Myagkov to Russia and further criminal prosecution, which was granted in May, 2014.
Today, escorted by the representatives of Federal Penal Correction Service of the Russian Federation and Russian INTERPOL bureau, Nikita Myagkov will be extradited to Russia.
