On the visit of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation to the Swiss Confederation

Today, on May 13, 2014, during working trip of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chaika to Bern City, the Swiss Confederation, he met with Prosecutor General of the Swiss Confederation Michael Lauber. 

Yury Chaika thanked Michael Lauber for invitation to visit Switzerland, emphasizing that cooperation of Russia and Switzerland in different spheres lasts for more than 200 years, and positions of our countries have many points of convergence in the key international issues, first of all, in the sphere of law enforcement. 

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stated that consolidation of efforts in crime prevention, which has no state borders, is the priority of cooperation in the sphere of criminal proceedings, and the common goal is bringing offenders to justice, protection of the rights of citizens and legally protected interests of society and state. 

Yury Chaika was pleased to note that cooperation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation with Federal Prosecutor’s Office of the Swiss Confederation in multilateral and bilateral format is fruitful, including that in the investigation of criminal cases, especially those associated with trans-border organized crime and having increased public interest. 

During the dialogue the parties have discussed issues relating to further interaction in certain criminal cases. 

In conclusion, Yury Chaika stated strong focus on comprehensive deepening and development of mutually advantageous relations between the Russian Federation and the Swiss Confederation and thanked Michael Lauber, Attorney General of Switzerland, for opportunity to exchange opinions on the pressing issues of interaction.
