In her turn, Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of the Hellenic Republic Evterpy Kudzamani stated that cooperation of the two agencies would enhance further cooperation between our countries. She pointed out that Russia and Greece have close relations. These two nations are united by common history, religion and culture.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of the Hellenic Republic expressed confidence that cooperation of the two agencies would continue and its results would be useful for citizens of Russia and Greece.

She also supported the proposal of the Russian side to sign an updated Memorandum of Cooperation in the nearest future.

Today a round table took place within the framework of implementation of the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor's Office of the Supreme Court of the Hellenic Republic for 2013-2014. Representatives of Directorate for Methodical and Analytical Resources for Oversight over Procedural Activities of Preliminary Investigations and Operative Search Activity and those of Research Institute of the Academy of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation participated in it.

Opening the round table the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Viktor Grin emphasized the importance of discussing not only state of combating certain types of international crimes, but also determination of the basic ways and methods to effectively overcome challenges in this field. An endless source of illegal income became human trafficking, and this income is invested again and again in other types of illegal activities.

Viktor Grin said that according to data of the International Organization for Migration, only to Western Europe tens of thousands of women are sent for prostitution. Young women and sometimes young men are moved from one country to another via well-organized channels. Among the reasons why human trafficking has assumed such a proportion, it should be pointed out the openness of borders and an increase in migratory flows among states, imperfections of the migration legislation, corruption among officials, including the states of destination.

Another dangerous manifestation of organized crime is constantly increasing desire of transnational organized criminal groups not only to make a large-scale profit by human trafficking, trafficking of illicit drugs and weapons, but also to legalize it, which is often used to finance organized crime, among other.

In this respect, as the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stated, it seems appropriate to continue work on improvement of international cooperation of law enforcement authorities, in the course of which special attention should be paid to exchange of information about instances of criminal activity, joint and agreed preventive actions, including measures for rehabilitation to victims of crime, taking coordinated measures to reveal and prevent proceeds from crime, as well as holding of working meetings of the appropriate experts for further practicing of interaction methods.

Viktor Grin expressed confidence that practical implementation of proposals developed during today meeting would stimulate further improvement and development of relations between the two states and the procurator's offices within the framework of general strategy of combating organized crime in all of its forms, and it would allow us to appear with agreed positions at other international forums.
