Today, on the 29 of October, 2013, the meeting of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka and Federal Prosecutor of the Kingdom of Belgium Johan Delmulle took place in Moscow.
The Meeting was also attended by major executives of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Russian Federation Guy Truverua and other officials.
Greeting the guests, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation noted, that the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Belgium are linked through long-term friendly warm relationship, based on mutual interest in strengthening of international security and building-up of strategic partnership.
Yuri Chayka expressed particular gratitude to Johan Delmulle for his strong contribution in maintaining of close working contacts with the relevant law enforcement authorities of both countries.
In particular, he pointed out as a positive example rapidly growing cooperation between Russian and Belgian representatives in Consultative Council of European Prosecutors and The Council of Europe's Committee of Experts on the Operation of European Conventions in the Penal Field.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation reminded to the participants of the event that over the course of already taken place meetings of the General Board of international judicial cooperation with the representatives of law enforcement authorities of the Kingdom of Belgium in July 2009, as well as the meeting with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Russian Federation Guy Truverua in March 2010 and July 2011 the issues of bilateral interaction in concern of criminal proceedings were discussed.
Besides, as Yuri Chayka stated, working contacts with the Liaison Officer of Belgium Embassy to the Russian Federation Emil Mulron are constantly maintained, who provides consulting in the matters of legal assistance in criminal cases.
In the course of the meeting, the parties signed the Cooperation Agreement between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Kingdom of Belgium. This document is oriented on activation and improvement of efficiency of interdepartmental interaction in tackling the transnational crime.
In conclusion of the meeting Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the cooperation with the relevant Belgian authorities and assured steady determination for comprehensive deepening and development of mutual relationship between Russia and Belgium.
Johan Delmulle, in his turn, thanked Yuri Chayka for hospitality and the opportunity to exchange opinions on wide range of issues.
