Today, on the 23rd of October, 2013, in the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation a «round table», aimed at studying the structure and issues of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus as well as the rights and obligations of prosecutors from both countries was held.
At the beginning of work of the «round table», First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Buksman congratulated mister Kostas Kliridis – the head of Cyprian delegation – on designation to a post of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Cyprus. He emphasized that Russian-Cypriote relations are traditionally amicable, which is considerably contributed by the concurrence of opinions in regard of many international issues, including the level of ministries and departments.
Alexander Buksman declared that holding of this event became possible within framework of the Cooperation program between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus for years 2013-2015, signed in 2012. Denoted document was implemented within the framework of Memorandum of cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus from October the 17-th, 2006.
First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation expressed confidence that joint effort shall keep on improving the efficiency of professional contacts and extension of dialogue on wide range of legal issues.
In the course of the «round table» the participants exchanged the national experience of prosecution authorities’ activities, ways and methods of prosecutorial response in the field of human rights protection and crime prevention. The officers of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation offered spotlight presentations. In the course of their discussion of presentations, the questions of activity of Russian prosecution authorities in judicial stages of criminal proceedings, arrangement of procuracy supervision in economic area, procuracy supervision over conduct of preliminary investigation, protection of rights of entrepreneurs as prior area of activity, and practical aspects of international cooperation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in area of criminal proceedings were touched.
