Text

Today on October 12th, 2012 at the request of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Sweden are extraditing the citizen of the Russian Federation Roman Vaskovsky. He is accused of committing a crime foreseen by part 3 of article 159 (fraud committed by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy in a large amount) of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation.

The criminal case is in the execution stage of the Main Investigative Board of Investigatory Committee of Russia in Krasnoyarsk territory.

As established by the investigation, within the period from January to March of 2007 Vaskovski acting in the membership of a group of persons on preliminary conspiracy with an employee of Krasnoyarsk city administration, having submitted to the administration of the city of Krasnoyarsk untrue information about possession of the right for improvement of housing conditions, committed misappropriation of budgetary funds in the amount of more than 455 thousand rubles which were allocated in the framework of realization of the city program "Affordable Housing for a Young Krasnoyarsk Family" in the form of subsidies for the family, allegedly consisting of a nonexistent spouse and a nonexistent son.

Since Roman Vaskovsky hid himself from criminal prosecution, in May 2010 he was announced in the Federal search and in August 2011 he was placed into the international wanted list.

In December 2011 the General Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the competent authorities of Sweden a request for extradition of Vaskovsky which was satisfied in September 2012.

Today, accompanied by the employees of the FSIN (Federal Service of Execution of Punishment) of Russia and the Russian Bureau of Interpol, Roman Vaskovsky is extradited to Russia.
