About extradition to Russia from Spain of a citizen of RF Tatyana Vasilenko, blamed for selling heroin

On March 22, 2012 at the request of the General Prosecutor's office of Russia the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain extradited to Russia a citizen of the Russian Federation Tatyana Vasilenko.

In March 2010 by the court of the city of Novgorod with consideration of amendments inserted by the court of cassation instance, as per part 3 of article 30, part 2 of article 228 (attempt for sale of narcotic drugs) of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation (in the wording of 1996) she was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months of imprisonment in a correctional colony of common regime.

By the court Vasilenko was found guilty in the fact that in April 2002, within the bounds of an operational activity - control purchase, in the entrance of an apartment house she sold heroin weighing 0,1318 grams for 400 rubles, pouring it out of polyethylene bag of total mass of 0,3226 grams she had at that moment with herself. Passing the drug to a buyer, Vasilenko was arrested by officers of the Department for Fighting against Illegal Drug Turnover of Internal Affairs Board of Novgorod region.

Breaking the measure of restraint in the form of an engagement of non-leave, Vasilenko did not show up at the session of the court, due to this in August 2002 the measure of restraint was changed to taking into custody and she was declared in search. In June 2008 Vasilenko was declared into the international search, and in July 2010 she was arrested on the territory of Spain.

In August 2010 the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation forwarded request to the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Spain for extradition of Vasilenko to Russia for execution of the sentence.

In March 2012 the petition of extradition was satisfied.

Today accompanied by employees of Russian FSIN (Federal Service of Execution of Punishment) and the Russian Bureau of Interpol, Tatiana Vasilenko is extradited to Russia.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the year the government of Spain extradited to Russia at the requests of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation four people, accused of committing heavy and particularly grave crimes, including Dmitry Belkin, the leader of criminal grouping “Orekhovskaya”.
