On March 20th, 2012 in the General Prosecutor's office of Russia a meeting of Deputy General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Mr. Alexander Zvyagintsev with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in the Russian Federation Mr. Knut Hauge took place.
Welcoming the guest, Mr. Alexander Zvyagintsev noted that the positions of two countries have a lot of points of contact on key international issues and in solution of such global challenges as terrorism, transnational criminality and the environment protection.
During the meeting the parties signed a Program of cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of justice and emergency situations of the Kingdom of Norway and the General Prosecutor's office of the Kingdom of Norway for the years of 2012-2013. The document was signed with the aim of implementation of the Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of justice and police of the Kingdom of Norway dated April 27th, 2010 and realization of the Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's office of the Kingdom of Norway dated April 27th, 2010.
The program provides for the holding of joint events, including round tables and seminars on a wide range of issues.
So, in May 2012 in the city of Moscow it will be held a meeting of specialists of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of justice and emergency situations of the Kingdom of Norway and the General Prosecutor's office of the Kingdom of Norway on problematic issues in the sphere of extradition and legal assistance in criminal cases. Also, in October 2012 in the city of Oslo it is planned the exchange of opinions on the issues of assignment and execution of alternative types of punishment against juvenile offenders, including the use of the conflict council.
In April 2013 in the city of Moscow it will be held the "round table" on the subject of revealing, suppression and prevention of violations of law in connection with illegal export and import of seafood, means of transportation, smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, weapons and cultural values. In September and November 2013 in the city of Oslo it will be held the seminar dedicated to the struggle against law breaking in the field of fisheries in the Barents and Norwegian seas and a meeting with the purpose of experience exchange in organization of inspection over the observance of the rights and freedoms of citizens under arrest or those who are serving their criminal sentences.
Deputy General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Mr. Alexander Zvyagintsev emphasized that the signing of the Program in the whole will contribute to the development of good-neighborly relations between two countries.
The participants of the meeting noted that further cooperation will be productive and mutually beneficial, and undoubtedly, the close inter-Agency cooperation will increase the efficiency of work in the field of protection of citizens' rights and the fight against criminality.
