Text

On January 18 of this year the competent authorities of the State of Israel satisfied the petition of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation on the extradition of a citizen of the Russian Federation Pavel Eremenko. By the investigation authorities he is accused of committing crimes foreseen by point "b" in part 3 of article 132 (violent actions of sexual nature against a person who obviously has not reached the age of fourteen years old), and part 1 of article 116 (beating) of the criminal code of the Russian Federation.

The criminal case against Eremenko is in the execution stage of investigatory department of Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation for Magadan region. It was initiated in January 2005. In May 2005 Eremenko was declared in Federal search and in June 2008 he was placed into the international wanted list.

After that when in June 2008 it was defined that he was residing in the territory of Israel, in July 2008 the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the Ministry of justice of the State of Israel a request for his extradition.

For the past four years, this is the third satisfied request by Israel for extradition of Russian citizens, which can be evaluated as the guarantee for further successful cooperation between law-and-order agencies of two countries.

In April 2008 the Israeli side extradited a citizen of the Russian Federation Alexander Levin for calling to the criminal liability for robbery and murder, and in May 2010 a citizen of the Russian Federation and Israel Shumshum Shubaev.
