It is signed an Agreement for cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Cuba

Today in the General Prosecutor's office of Russia it was held a meeting of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka and General Prosecutor of the Republic of Cuba Dario Delgado Kura.

The delegation is on an official visit to Moscow on invitation of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation. The previous visit of the Cuban colleagues took place in 1988.

Welcoming the guest, Yuri Chayka noted that Russia and Cuba are tied up with friendly and warm relations based on mutual interest in strengthening peace and security and increasing of the strategic partnership between two countries, including in the law-and-order sphere.

The General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation stressed that the fight against criminality, that does not know any borders, the activities for the protection of the rights and legal interests of citizens should be consolidated on the basis of existing international agreements and domestic legislation.

In his turn Dario Delgado Kura noted that the current visit to Russia is caused by the realities of the present time, he should give a new impulse to the relations of two departments, since the challenges raising in front of the General Prosecutor's offices of two countries on provision for the protection of the rights of citizens dictate the necessity for close and fruitful cooperation.

In the course of the meeting it was signed the Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Cuba which terminated the actuality of the Agreement signed in 1986.

It is foreseen by the document holding of meetings and consultations for the exchange of experiences, cooperation in the field of fighting against criminality including its organized forms, terrorism, extremism, corruption, illegal trafficking of weapons, drugs and psychotropic substances, illegal migration and trafficking of human beings, crimes in the economic sphere, the sphere of high technologies, and other crimes. Moreover, the Agreement provides for the exchange of information about the legal system and legislation of two countries, carrying out of joint researches, conferences and seminars on actual issues of activities, including the exchange of information with the purpose of raising the qualification of public prosecutors.

Yuri Chayka expressed confidence that the Agreement will promote development and strengthening interdepartmental cooperation, as well as deepening and development of Russian-Cuban relations.

In the course of the visit of the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Cuba in Russia he met with the Deputy General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation – the Chief Military Prosecutor Sergey Fridinsky.

Noting that the history of interaction of the Russian and Cuban military prosecutors counts already more than a half of a century, Sergey Fridinsky informed foreign colleagues about the modern structure of the organs of the military Prosecutor's office of Russia and the legislative basis of their work for the maintenance of law and order in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and other troops, the exclusion of any forms of abuse and corruption display, as well as the violation of the rights and legitimate interests of military servicemen and members of their families.

Moreovere, Dario Delgado Kura had a meeting with the Prosecutor of the city of Moscow Sergey Kudeneyev.

In a friendly atmosphere the representatives of the Cuban side got acquainted with the general principles of organization of the activity and interaction of law-and-order bodies of the city, the problems of norm-setting, peculiarities of work of the prosecutor’s office of the capital. The participants of the meeting exchanged their opinions on the problems of fighting against criminality, including criminality among teenagers, fighting against corruption, terrorism and extremism.

In general the visit of the Cuban delegation to Russia was of a friendly and constructive nature.

General prosecutors of Russia and Cuba expressed confidence that the meeting would contribute to increasing efficiency of professional communications and development of the dialogue on a wide range of legal issues.
