Today in the General Prosecutor's office of Russia it was held a meeting of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka with the Highest state representative of the Czech Republic Pavel Zeman.
The meeting was also attended by senior officers of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the President of the Association of Prosecutors of the Czech Republic.
Yuri Chayka, welcoming Pavel Zeman, has especially noted that the cooperation of law-and-order bodies of Russia and the Czech Republic is based on mutually beneficial partnership and mutual understanding, contributes to the strengthening of European security and stability. An important step towards the strengthening and development of such cooperation was signing of the Memorandum of mutual understanding between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme state representative of the Czech Republic in2006. The General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation expressed his confidence that the cooperation will remain as fruitful in the future as it is now.
Yuri Chayka drew attention of the guests to the necessity of close cooperation in matters of mutual legal assistance, due to the development of Russian-Czech international contacts and increase of tourist activity.
Highlighting the struggle against terrorism and extremism in one of the priority directions of cooperation, the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation also offered to focus joint efforts on overcoming of the problem of money laundering, obtained by a criminal method.
In his turn Pavel Zeman gratified Yuri Chayka for the opportunity to visit the General Prosecutor's office of Russia and to discuss the current interdepartmental issues. He proposed to develop various forms of cooperation that allow effective salvation of all arising issues, including the ones where modern means of telecommunications can be used.
The parties have agreed to renovate the existing Memorandum of mutual understanding and to develop a program of cooperation for the years of 2012 and 2013 in the nearest future.
