It is signed a program for cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor's office of the Supreme Court of justice of the Republic of Greece

Today in the General Prosecutor's office of Russia it was held a meeting of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka with the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Greece Ioannis Tendes.

Welcoming the guest the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the level of cooperation with the competent authorities of the Republic of Greece. He noted that development of cooperation between the law-and-order bodies of Russia and Greece is extremely important and mainly due to the fact that the number of Russian tourists visiting the Republic of Greece is growing annually.

In his turn Ioannis Tendes thanked Yuri Chayka for assistance in legal issues which is provided by the General Prosecutor's office of Russia to Greece.

The General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation noted that the first and very important step towards the establishment, strengthening and development of such cooperation became the act of signing of a Memorandum of mutual understanding between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor's office of the Supreme Court of Greece in April 2010.

Today the heads of the Departments signed a Program of cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor's office of the Supreme Court of justice of the Republic of Greece for the years of 2011 and 2012.

It is foreseen by the program carrying out a number of joint events on a wide range of issues, firstly aimed towards observance of the legislation and protection of the rights of citizens and to the maintenance of public order, struggling against organized criminality and actions against extremism. Moreover, it is foreseen by the Program an exchange of departmental and scientific publications as well as the materials of judicial practice on the main directions of the activity.

Yuri Chayka noted that the signing of the Program and carrying out of preliminary planned joint activities will enable to exchange of valuable experiences on solving of various types of problems which are faced by the bodies of the Prosecutor's offices in their every day work which undoubtedly will increase the efficiency of interdepartmental work in the field of protection of the rights of citizens and in the field of struggling against criminality.

In his turn Ioannis Tendes expressed confidence in the fact that this Program will be successfully implemented since it bears a specific and realistic nature.
