Today, upon the request of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Austria are extraditing to Russia a citizen of the Russian Federation Mikayil Akhmedov. He is accused of committing four crimes foreseen by part 2 of article 159 (fraud with causing of a considerable damage to a citizen) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
In July 2010, by the Khasavyurt town court of the Republic of Dagestan, Akhmedov was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a colony of settlement. He was found guilty in the fact that in August 2002 in the town of Khasavyurt Akhmedov registered a fictitious tourist firm "Michael" on legalization of the so-called "Schengen" visas. The monetary means received from citizens he just took at his own disposal causing damage to aggrieved persons in the amount of about 150 thousand rubles.
Since Akhmedov disappeared from criminal prosecution, in December 2002 he was declared in the Federal search and in June 2008 he was placed into the international wanted list.
In 2008 it was received the information from the law-and-order bodies of Austria that Akhmedov is serving a sentence on the territory of this country for raping.
In July of 2008 the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the competent authorities of Austria a request for his extradition which was satisfied in August 2009. However, the transfer of Akhmedov to the Russian side has been postponed until the end of the term of serving of the sentence due to the verdict of the Austrian court which entered into force.
With the aim of observance of procedural deadlines the Russian side forwarded to the Federal Ministry of justice of the Republic of Austria a request for extradition of Akhmedov on temporary basis for carrying out urgent investigative actions, finishing of the investigation and announcing of the sentence.
A temporary extradition of the person occurred in April 2010.
In September 2010 after the pronouncement of the verdict of the court and its entry into legal force, Akhmedov was returned to the Austrian authorities for further serving of punishment.
In May 2011 in connection with expiry of the term of serving punishment, the competent authorities of Austria took the decision on the final transfer of Akhmedov to Russia for serving of his punishment announced by the Russian court.
Today, accompanied by the employees of the FSIN (Federal Service of Execution of Punishment) of Russia and the Russian Bureau of Interpol, Akhmedov is extradited to Russia.
