Today, in the General Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation it was held a meeting of the First Deputy of the General Prosecutor Alexander Buksman with the delegation of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic headed by its Chairman Stefan Garabin. The delegation is staying in Moscow with an official visit on the invitation of the President of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
The meeting was also attended by the leading officers of the General Prosecutor’s office of Russia, the bodies of judicial power and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in the Russian Federation.
Alexander Buksman gratified Stefan Garabin for the visit and briefly introduced the guests with the activities of the bodies of the Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation. More particularly he pointed out on the powers and functions of the bodies of the Prosecutor's office connected with the participation of prosecutors in criminal proceedings as well as in civil and arbitration processes.
Alexander Buksman accentuated that the Prosecutor in Russia have the right to submit claims in the interests of the vulnerable categories of the population, including the disabled, pensioners, under age citizens and families with many children. He also informed that since last year the prosecutor’s offices are empowered to defend in the courts the social and labour rights of citizens. It was connected with numerous delays of wage payments in relation with the global financial crisis. Alexander Buksman informed that in the year of 2010 in the interests of the workers prosecutors announced about 600 thousand claims for the amount of more than 9 billion rubles, and in total with the aim of protection of the rights of citizens - about 1 million claims for the amount of more than 14 billion roubles.
The first Deputy of the General Prosecutor of Russia also noted the high level of interaction with the General Prosecutor's office of the Slovak Republic which is carried out on the basis of the existing interdepartmental agreements.
In his turn Stefan Garabin briefly introduced the Russian colleagues with the structure and powers of the judicial authorities of the Slovak Republic.
In the course of the dialogue the parties have agreed in the opinion that the structure and powers of the law-and-order bodies of two countries have much in common.
The first Deputy of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation stated firm targeting on the development of bilateral relations which will allow not only improving of the effectiveness of joint work but also strengthening of interdepartmental cooperation in the field of protection of the rights of citizens and the struggle against criminality.
Stefan Garabin gratified Alexander Buksman for the warm reception and the opportunity for the exchange of opinions on a wide range of issues.
