Today, in the General Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation it was held a meeting of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka with the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Seremet.
Also, the meeting was attended by the Deputies of the General prosecutors of two countries – the Main military public prosecutors of Russia and Poland Sergei Fridinsky and Krzysztof Parulsky, senior officers of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation.
In the beginning of the meeting the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation accentuated that the cooperation between the Prosecutor's offices of two countries is dynamically growing and developing. This is significantly contributed by the implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's offices of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Poland signed in December of the last year.
"The joint efforts aimed to a thorough investigation of the crush of the aircraft of the President of the Republic of Poland in April 10, 2010 near Smolensk are increasing. Our cooperation is build and based on unprecedented high level of openness".
Further in his speech Yuri Chayka informed that for the fulfillment of the international orders in 2010 to the Polish Prosecutor's office there were transferred 28 volumes of materials of fulfilled requests for legal assistance in the given criminal case and in April 2011 additionally 14 volumes were passed (in total 42 volumes).
It is coming to its end the work on the transfer to the Polish side of the materials of the criminal case initiated on the fact of discovery of mass graves of the remains of the Polish troops, so-called the "Katyn case". As of May 16 of this year to the Polish side there were transferred 148 volumes with copies of the materials of the "Katyn case" and 11 volumes out of them were transferred in April of the current year.
The General Prosecutor of Poland Andrzej Seremet gratified the Russian side for active assistance in the investigation of the criminal case of the plane crash which is significant for the Polish side. Also, Andrzej Seremet raised, for discussion, the questions connected with the organization of investigation of such crimes as seizure of hostages, kidnapping aimed for reception of ransom, committed by organized criminal groups.
The parties discussed a number of specific criminal cases requiring cooperation between two agencies.
