About temporary extradition from Spain to Russia of a citizen of the Russian Federation Lyudmila Nesterova accused of human trafficking
Text

Today, upon request of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain temporarily, for a period of three months, are extraditing a citizen of Russia Lyudmila Nesterova. By the bodies of investigation she is accused of committing of six crimes foreseen by the paragraph "b" in part 3 of article 127.1 (trafficking of human beings, that is recruitment, transportation, transfer, receipt of a person, committed for the purpose of his/her exploitation, with moving the victim across the State border of the Russian Federation committed by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The criminal case against Nesterova is in the execution stage of the Avtozavodsky district court of the city of Nizhny Novgorod.

It is determined that Nesterova staying in Spain in 2005 created on the territory of the Russian Federation an organized criminal group for the implementation of the trafficking of women and using them for rendering of sexual services. The accomplices of Nesterova in Russia under her management, by telling lies, convinced women of going to Spain promising employment with high pay salaries. In case of the consent of the women they were provided with travel documents for entry into Spain, and on arrival, Nesterova made the recruited women work off the debt by rendering of sexual services to the clients.

In connection with the fact that Nesterova disappeared from criminal prosecution, in December 2008 she was placed into the international wanted list, and in 2009 she was found out on the territory of Spain. In the same year, to the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain it was sent a request for extradition of Nesterova for bringing her to criminal liability.

As a result of close and elaborated cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain by the Spanish side in October 2009 it was accepted a decision about approval of the petition for extradition of Nesterova to Russia. However at that time, the transfer did not occur due to the fact that she was serving her sentence on the Spanish court.

In March 2011 the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the Ministry of justice of the Kingdom of Spain a request for extradition of Nesterova on temporary basis (for three months) for bringing to criminal liability.

In April 2011 Spain satisfied the Russian request about extradition of Nesterova.

Today, accompanied by the employees of the FSIN (Federal Service of Execution of Punishment) of Russia and the Russian Bureau of Interpol, Lyudmila Nesterova is extradited to Russia.
