The Week was attended by the British and Russian business elite, lawyers, leading scientists and representatives of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of justice of the Russian Federation, the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Research centre of private law under the President of the Russian Federation and the Russian legal academy of the Ministry of justice of Russia.

In the course of the conferences and the seminars the participants discussed a wide range of Russian business legislation including corporate law, arbitration practice, intellectual property law, insurance law, etc.

The most significant event of the Week of the Russian commercial law 2010 became the fact of carrying out of a seminar "Legal mechanisms for struggling against corruption in the Russian Federation" which was organized in connection with the adoption of the "Law about bribery" in the United Kingdom. This document announces the corruption in the private sector and bribery of public officials as criminal offences, and also it determines the order of conducting of the affairs by the British and foreign companies both on the territory of the United Kingdom as well as beyond its borders.

In the course of the seminar the participants have also informed the legal community about the latest trends of the Russian legislation in the considered sphere, about the results of the work of two countries in this direction and expressed their desire to further strengthen the international anticorruption cooperation.

Thus, the head of the international cooperation department for particularly important cases of the Main department of the international legal cooperation of the General Prosecutor's office of Russia Vadim Yalovitskiy in his speech has noted that the active integration of Russia into the world market and the development of multi-aspect ties with the countries of the European Union demand from the law-and-order bodies of the adoption of additional measures in protection of the rights and interests of citizens and organizations participating in these processes.

He has also stressed that one of the priority directions of the activities of the General Prosecutor's office of Russia in the implementation of the powers on criminal persecution is the protection of the rights of victims of crimes in the sphere of economy and corruption. Taking into account the fact that a number of persons accused of committing of such crimes hide outside of Russia and their incomes obtained in criminal way are transferred abroad, the General Prosecutor's office of Russia pays much attention to the international cooperation in the criminal law sphere that include the issues of legal assistance and extradition.

Conducting of the Week of Russian commercial law 2010 significantly improved the understanding, trust and cooperation between the countries and gave opportunities to the representatives of the British legislative bodies, judges, legal practitioners, scientific researchers and others to better understand and appreciate the Russian legislation and its implementation.

The responding event - a Week of British law in Russia is scheduled for the year of 2011.
