In the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation it took place the transmission of copies of the materials of the criminal case in 20 volumes about the shooting of Polish citizens in Katyn

Today the head of the main department of international legal cooperation of the General Prosecutor's office of Russia Sahak Karapetyan handed over to the Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the Russian Federation Peter Marchinyak copies of the materials of the criminal case in 20 volumes which had been initiated on the fact of the execution of Polish citizens in 1940 in Katyn.

 

In these 20 volumes there are instructions on sending prisoners of war, lists of military personnel sent to the administrative board of NKVD (People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs) in Tver region, the protocols of interrogations and other investigation actions, the forensic medical expert examinations, acts of burial, the histories of diseases, death certificates, certificates of release of bodies, requests to the Main Information Center of the Ministry of internal Affairs of the USSR, certificates of criminal records and other documents.

In March 2005 the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation received a petition of the Polish party with the request of familiarizing with all materials of the so-called "Katyn case".

In October 2005 the Polish side was familiarized with 67 volumes of the criminal case.

 

In November 2009 the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation received a new Polish petition for familiarizing with all materials of the criminal case.

 

For the execution of the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, the copies of the materials referred to the case in 67 volumes on 08.05.2010 were transferred to the Polish side by the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation.

At present the work on execution of the request of the Polish party is going on.
