- The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation
Today, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Austria are extraditing to Russia Mikael Akhmedov, a citizen of the Russian Federation. He is accused of the crime, specified in article 159 (2) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud, that is the stealing of another's property by means of deceit and abuse of trust with the causing of significant damage to a citizen).
In June 2008, the information was received that on the territory of Austria, under the court sentence, Mikael Akhmedov, a citizen of the Russian Federation, was serving his sentence and due to this fact the international search for this person was announced.
In July 2008, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation forwarded a request to the Federal Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Austria for a temporary extradition of Akhmedov to Russia.
In November 2009, the competent authorities of the Republic of Austria passed a decision that the extradition of Akhmedov to Russia was admissible but his transfer to the Russian party was delayed until he had served his sentence under the sentence of the Austrian Court, the term of which would finish in 2015.
According to the arrangements of the parties, a permission for a temporary extradition of the person for a term of 3 months was obtained in order to conduct urgent investigative actions.
