Extradition of Russian citizen Karen Margaryan, Accused of committing of a crime, from France to Russia

Today upon the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation competent authorities of the Republic of France extradite native of the Armen SSR Karen Margaryan to Russia. He is accused by the investigative authorities of committing of crimes provided in Article 111 (1) (Intentional infliction of grave harm to the health dangerous for life of person) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The criminal matter in respect of Margaryan is considered by the District court of the Nemecky National District of the Altai Region.

The preliminary investigation established that in December 2000 on the ground of personal hostile relations Karen Margaryan in village Degtyarka of the Nemecky National District of the Altai Region shot Chernoskulov several times from pneumatic rifle, causing him grave harm to health in the form of multiple bullet penetrating wounds of chest and abdominal cavity.

In November 2001 Margaryan was declared federally wanted. In June 2007 in the course of account inspection he was located on the territory of France.

In August 2007 the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the competent authorities of the Republic of France corresponding request for extradition of Margaryan, which was satisfied in August 2009.

In September 2007 he was detained and placed under pre-extradition arrest on the territory of France.

Today Karen Margaryan, accompanied by officers of the Federal Service for Execution of Punishment, is being extradited to Russia.
