Text

On September 26, 2008, upon request for extradition of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation the Turkish competent authorities extradited Pavel Grebennikov to Russia.

The investigative authorities charged P.Grebennikov with crimes under Article 159, part 4 (fraud committed by an organized group or on especially large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The investigative authorities found out that from December 2001 to December 2002 P.Grebennikov fraudulently misappropriated funds in the amount of 40 million rubles. The sum was allocated in 2001 from the federal budget as a subvention to local budget of the Closed Administrative-Territorial Unit (ZATO) Zheleznogorsk of the Krasnoyarsk Region to finance a project within the framework of implementation of the Development Program of ZATO Zheleznogorsk for 2001-2004.

In September 2005, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request to the competent authorities of the Republic of Turkey for extradition of P.Grebennikov. The request was satisfied in August 2008.
