Today, within the framework of the 8th Conference of Prosecutors General of Europe, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika and Prosecutor General of the Republic of Hungary Tamas Kovac have signed the Agreement on Co-operation between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Hungary at the Constantine Palace, St. Petersburg.
The Agreement stipulates co-operation in the core areas of combating crime: terrorism, corruption, trafficking in arms, trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances, economic and hi-tech crimes and other crimes highly hazardous to the society.
Except for combating crime, the Agreement promotes co-operation in such areas as the protection of human rights and freedoms of man and citizen, training and professional development of staff of the prosecution authorities and organization of research activities. Moreover, the Agreement envisages co-operation in rendering legal assistance in criminal matters.
For practical implementation of the Agreement, the Parties plant to share information on the activities of the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Hungary and hold consultations on different legal issues. Moreover, they intend to exchange statutory acts, methodic materials, course books and scientific publications, arrange meetings of experts, scientific researches, academic and practical activities, workshops, practical studies and training courses.
The Agreement becomes effective from the date of its signature.
