The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation in collaboration with the Council of Europe will hold the Conference of Prosecutors General of Europe on 1-3 July, 2008, in St.Petersburg (the Constantine Palace) dedicated to: “The Role of Public Prosecution in the Protection of Human Rights and Public Interests outside the Criminal Law Field”.
The Conference chaired by Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika will be attended by Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis, Commissioner of the Council of Europe for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg, Director General of the Council of Europe of Human Rights and Legal Affairs Philippe Boillat. Moreover, 47 European Prosecutors General and representatives of a number of international organizations are expected to participate in the Conference.
The Conference plans to discuss the activities of the prosecution authorities in the protection of human rights and public interests, core areas and forms of activities of the prosecution service outside the criminal law field.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation intends to hold bilateral meetings with his foreign colleagues.
The Mass Media and PR Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation is responsible for the Conference accreditation.
