The Attorney General of the Russian Federation Yuriy Chayka met with the deans of the law faculties of the country’s leading institutions in Higher Education: Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University and some other institutions. The parties discussed the interaction of the prosecution and higher education institutions to optimize the educational process for the preparation of prosecutors, in particular law students activity aimed at providing free legal assistance to citizens. Opening the meeting, Yuriy Chayka stressed the relevance of the educational institutions setting the standard for free legal assistance to socially vulnerable categories of citizens.
As a result of the meeting an agreement was signed on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation and the Law Faculty of St. Petersburg State University. The agreement envisages involvement of the students of the said faculty to receive citizens in the district prosecutor's office of St Petersburg and the Leningrad region, as well as the practice of students in the prosecutor's office.
In addition, the agreement regulates training for prosecutors, provides for the exchange of academic teaching staff, joint research on the protection of rights and freedoms of citizens, holding conferences. methodical, scientific and practical seminars, round tables, a number of other events.
During the meeting Yuriy Chayka thanked the guests for the successful implementation of such an incentive important for the protection of rights and legitimate interests of citizens and awarded a number of individuals with departmental awards.
