The Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk People's Republic has approved the indictment in the criminal case against 28-year-old Canadian citizen Dylan Mordant. He has been charged in absentia under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict).

According to the investigation, in March 2022, Mordant arrived in Ukraine through the Polish border checkpoint and voluntarily joined the "International Legion" for the Defense of Ukraine, where he underwent military training on the territory of training bases, mastered the necessary skills for participation in an armed conflict, and was provided with personal firearms. After that, Mordant, as a mercenary, had been taking part in military operations against servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation until June 2025.

For these actions, he received material compensation in the amount of more than 3.1 million rubles.

Mordant has been placed on the international wanted list, and the court has imposed upon him in absentia a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The criminal case has been sent to the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic for its consideration on the merits.
