The Prosecutor General of Russian Federation Yury Chayka took part in the Meeting of Interstate Council on Combating Corruption in Astana, the Republic of Kazakhstan

Today on 19 November 2015 Astana (the Republic of Kazakhstan) hosted the Meeting of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of six states (the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Tajikistan), as well as members of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The Russian side was represented by the delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation headed by Yury Chayka.

The Meeting began with welcome address by the Co-Chairman of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption, Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs and Combating Corruption Kairat Kozhamzharov, Assistant to the President – Secretary of Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Yermekbayev, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Daulbaev, and others.

The Council members reviewed and approved the Draft Concept and Agreement on Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Combating Corruption, and discussed the cooperation with the CIS bodies, which competence includes the consideration of certain issues in the area of combating corruption.

The representatives of the host country shared the experience of the Republic of Kazakhstan on combating corruption and discussed with the guests the status of implementation of the decisions made at the Meeting of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption of 29 January 2015.

During the event, the participants elected Mr. Kozhamzharov, Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs and Combating Corruption, as the Chairman of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption, and Mr. Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, as the Co-Chairman of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption.

Following the event, the participants signed the decisions of the Council.

The next meeting of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption will be held in the Russian Federation in the 4th quarter of 2016.
