Program of Cooperation is signed between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2013-2014

Today, on the 12th of November 2013, a meeting took place in the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka and Prosecutor General of the Republic of South Ossetia Merab Chigoev. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation and both countries Prosecutor General's Office major executives took part in this event. 

When greeting the guests, Yury Chayka mentioned that friendly relationships connect Russia with the Republic of South Ossetia. The first and a very important step in their development became the signing of Cooperation agreement between General Procuracies of Russia and South Ossetia in 2008. Within the frame of its realization a number of bilateral events have been carried out, in the course of which issues of civilian rights protection, social and state interests, arrangement of supervision over the operating investigation activity legislation fulfillment, carrying out bilateral cooperation in the area of criminal procedure were discussed. 

In terms of interdepartmental interaction continuation in the area of mutual tasks, set for both countries Procuracies, a Program of Cooperation was signed in the course of the meeting between Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2013-2014. 

The Program is designed considering competence of both countries procuracy authorities and includes arrangements in most actual issues of their work. Within the frame of the Program realization Russian attorneys, having considerable work experience, especially in human rights and environmental areas, will share it with their South Ossetian colleagues. 

Also in the course of the Program arrangements prosecutors of Russia and South Ossetia will get a chance to have an experience exchange in solution of certain problems, they come across every day, that it will undoubtedly increase the effectiveness of interdepartmental interaction in the area of civilian rights protection and crime prevention. So in 2013 a "round table" took place concerning: "The place, role, competence and structures of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of South Ossetia» and the meeting for experience exchange concerning the organization and carrying out procuratorial supervision in the fulfillment of legislation in terms of extremism counteraction, revealing extremism threats by means of procuratorial supervision. 

For 2014 it is planned by the Program to carry out seminars concerning issues of the organization of supervision over the fulfillment of laws by the authorities, carrying out operating investigation work, inquest and preliminary investigation, and also issues of methodical analytical assurance of this activity and of attorneys taking part in legal investigation of criminal cases carried out by Courts. Also a "round table" was held in Moscow considering issues of attorneys taking part in legal investigation of civil cases carried out by Courts and consultation in issues of rendering legal assistance in criminal cases. 

In Tskhinvali a meeting will take place for experience exchange in arranging and carrying out the supervision of laws concerning protection of state and social interests’ fulfillment, observation of rights and liberties of a human and a civilian, fulfillment of legislation in the area of economy, including budget legislation, and also election legislation. Also a "round table" was held considering arranging and carrying out procuratorial supervision of legislation fulfillment when executing criminal penalties and a seminar concerning arranging and carrying out the supervision of legislation fulfillment in corruption counteraction, preventative measures of corruption misdeeds, including ones in procuratorial authorities. 

Yury Chayka also mentioned that the measures under this Program are aimed to strengthening and developing mutual cooperation in the area of human rights protection and crime prevention. 

In his turn Merab Chigoev thanked Yury Chayka for his welcome and marked the importance and expedience of the Program of cooperation signing. 

In conclusion General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation confirmed strict determination to all-round extension and development of Russian-Ossetian relationships.
