Today, on May 24, 2012 in the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation it was held a Russian-Cuban meeting with the purpose of getting acquainted with the structure, powers and organization of the work of the organs and institutions of the Prosecutor's offices of Russia and Cuba.
Carrying out of the mentioned activity is envisaged by the Programme of cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Cuba for the years of 2012-2013 which was signed in April of this year in the city of Moscow.
The General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation in the meeting was represented by the chief of the Main organizational-analytical Department Andrey Nekrasov, a number of senior staff and representatives of the Scientific-Research Institute of the Academy of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation. The Cuban delegation was headed by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Cuba Mariela Nidia Fernandez Machado.
Opening the meeting, Andrey Nekrasov told the guests about the activities of the bodies of the Prosecutor's office of Russia, its main functions and powers as well as about the interaction with the public and law enforcement organizations. He particularly emphasized the law protection role of the organs of prosecutor’s offices outside the criminal law field.
The chief of the Main organizational-analytical Department expressed hope for successful and fruitful work with the foreign counterparts in the framework of the event. The mutual exchange of national functional experiences and information about the bodies of the Prosecutor's office, the forms and methods of Prosecutor's response in the field of protection of human rights and in the fight against criminality will contribute to multidisciplinary cooperation.
The participants of the meeting have exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues.
The next meeting of the representatives of the Prosecutor's offices of the two countries in the framework of the Programme is scheduled for October 2012 in the city of Havana, Cuba. There will be held a seminar on the issues of extradition and rendering of legal assistance in criminal matters, including issues of arrest, confiscation and return of assets obtained in the result of corruption, and it will be held a meeting targeted towards discussion of topical issues of counteraction to crimes of a terrorist nature and strengthening of international cooperation in this sphere.
In the year of 2013 it is also foreseen by the Program carrying out of a number of meetings and workshops, including on the issues related to struggling against human trafficking, illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and legalization of incomes obtained by criminal way.
Except carrying out of the above mentioned events, the representatives of the prosecutor's offices of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cuba have agreed to exchange information on the main directions of activities of its bodies and institutions as well as on the priorities of the state policy in the development and implementation of which they are involved.

Today, on May 24, 2012 in the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation it was held a Russian-Cuban meeting with the purpose of getting acquainted with the structure, powers and organization of the work of the organs and institutions of the Prosecutor's offices of Russia and Cuba.
