In the General Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation it was held the Russian-Swedish «round table» targeted towards getting acquainted with the structure, functions and organization of work of the organs and institutions of the Prosecutor's office

Today in the General Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation it was held the Russian-Swedish «round table» aimed at getting acquainted with the structure, functions and organization of work of organs and institutions of the systems of Prosecutor's offices of Russia and Sweden.

 

Carrying out the mentioned activity is envisaged by the Programme of cooperation between the General Prosecutor's offices of Russia and Sweden for the years of 2012 - 2013 which was signed in February of this year in the city of Stockholm (the Kingdom of Sweden).

 

The Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation in the «round table» was represented by the head of the Main Organizational-Analytical Department Andrey Nekrasov, the deputy head of the department on supervision of observance of the rights and freedoms of citizens of the Main Department for Supervision of Execution of the Federal legislation Galina Khokhrina, the deputy head of the organizational department - the head of the Department of Coordination of the Main Organizational-Analytical Department Vladimir Pozdnyakov, prosecutors of the Main Department for supervision of investigations, prosecutors of the Main Department of international legal cooperation and the staff of the Scientific-Research Institute of the Academy of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation.

 

 

The foreign delegation was represented by the Director of public prosecution of the General Prosecutor's office of the Kingdom of Sweden Nils Rekke, senior prosecutor of the international department of the prosecutor's office in Malmö Solveig Volstad, the prosecutor of the department for struggling against economic crimes Jan Tibbling and the prosecutor Leif Görtz.

 

Opening the work of the seminar, Andrey Nekrasov expressed his hope for successful and fruitful work with the foreign colleagues in the framework of the event.

 

In addition to discussion of general questions about the structure, functions and organization of work of the organs and institutions of the Prosecutor's offices of the two countries, thematic reports were made by the officers of General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation. In the course of their discussions they have touched upon the issues of activities of the bodies of the Prosecutor's office of Russia outside the criminal law field, the practical aspects of international cooperation of the General Prosecutor's office of Russia in the sphere of criminal proceedings, some questions related to organization of prosecutor's supervision over the procedural activities of investigative bodies in Russia as well as organization and status of work for extradition of persons.

 

The representatives of the Swedish delegation spoke about the competence of the Swedish prosecutors and their interaction with the police, about the supervisory practice of the General Prosecutor's office of Sweden, the role and organization of struggling against economic crimes and also, they have touched upon practical aspects of international cooperation.

 

Then participants of the round table exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues.

 

The next meeting of the representatives of the Prosecutor's offices of the two countries in the framework of the Programme is scheduled for November of this year in the city of Stockholm. It will be held a seminar on the issues of extradition including persons accused of crimes of a terrorist nature, and legal assistance in criminal matters including tracking of financial transactions and returning from abroad of assets and properties obtained by criminal methods.

 

In April 2013 in the city of Moscow it is scheduled carrying out a workshop on the issues of combating the illicit traffic of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and their precursors as well as combating trafficking of human beings, and in November in the city of Stockholm it is scheduled a meeting of the representatives of the Prosecutor's offices of the two countries in order to summarize the results of the implementation of the signed Programme and discussion of further perspectives of cooperation.
