Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika has met today with Deputy Prosecutor General of the Swiss Confederation Claude Necati.
In his speech of welcome, Yuri Chaika noted that constructive partnership relations were established between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of both countries.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation acquainted his Swiss colleagues with the development of the system of the prosecution authorities of Russia and stressed its enlarging participation in international cooperation and stated that one of the fundamental principles of activity was more efficient cooperation on the international arena.
Yuri Chaika informed Claude Necati about the Conference of the European Prosecutors General dedicated to the role of the Prosecution Service in the protection of human rights and public interests outside criminal field, which would take place in St. Petersburg, July 2008.
Moreover, both counterparts discussed the draft Agreement on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Switzerland.
Claude Necati noted the altered character of relations between these two institutions. “I wish the Agreement concluded between our institutions were informal to enable our countries to achieve practical results”, - said Deputy Prosecutor General of the Swiss Confederation.
Following the results of the meeting, the two sides expressed their readiness for further efficient cooperation on the main law-enforcement issues.
