The event was attended by the heads of the supervisory authorities of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Deputy Prosecutors General of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, representatives of CIS sectoral cooperation bodies, and other invited persons.
As part of the exchange of experience between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the CIS member states, Aleksandr Gutsan delivered a report on "Combating Crime in the Field of Information and Communication Technologies: Russian Experience."
One of the important outcomes of the meeting was the signing by its participants of the Agreement on Cooperation of the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the CIS Member States in Combating Illegal Migration. This is the first multilateral agreement of the Prosecutors General of the CIS member states in the last 15 years. The Prosecutors General noted that illegal migration poses a threat to national and public security, economic stability, expands opportunities for the activities of national and international terrorist and extremist organizations, organized criminal groups, and generally complicates the social and criminal situation.
By the decision of the Council, the Prosecutor General of Russia was unanimously elected Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the Prosecutors General of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Chairman organizes the work of the Coordinating Council, its Secretariat, and other working bodies, and promotes the implementation of decisions of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Council of Heads of Government on combating crime, violations of legality and law and order.
In his closing speech, the head of the Russian supervisory authority thanked the meeting participants for supporting his candidacy for the post of Chairman of the Coordinating Council. "This is a great honor for me and, undoubtedly, a high responsibility," Aleksandr Gutsan emphasized. "I want to assure you that I will make every effort to further develop and strengthen our cooperation on the principles of mutual respect, observance of national and international law."
The Prosecutor General of Russia noted the special attention paid to the tasks of ensuring regional security by the heads of the CIS member states within the framework of the "Central Asia - Russia" summit. This gave an additional impetus to expanding joint work, including in the law enforcement sphere. "We, undoubtedly, must follow the lead of our countries' leaders, and fully utilize the potential of the Council for effective counteraction to modern criminal challenges and threats," emphasized the head of the Russian supervisory authority.
"Every meeting of the Coordinating Council is held in a professional, constructive manner and concludes with the adoption of well-considered consolidated decisions aimed at improving supervisory activities," said Aleksandr Gutsan.
The Prosecutor General of Russia noted the exchange of experience on the most relevant topics that took place. He expressed confidence in its usefulness for practical application. He confirmed that all agenda items had been discussed and mechanisms for their implementation had been developed.
"The next, 36th meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Prosecutors General of the CIS member states will take place in the Russian Federation," Aleksandr Gutsan announced. "I invite everyone to Kazan, and I will be glad to see each one of you."
Before the start of the 35th meeting of the Coordinating Council of the CIS Prosecutors General, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, received the heads of supervisory authorities who arrived for the anniversary event, held in the year of the 30th anniversary of the CIS Coordinating Council.
