Welcoming his foreign colleague, Aleksandr Gutsan emphasized the importance of the UN Convention against Cybercrime, initiated by the Russian Prosecutor General's Office under the coordination of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"I know that you personally and the Office under your command have made a tremendous effort to ensure that this crucial document has come to life”, said the head of the Russian supervisory agency. "It is intended to significantly change global law enforcement practices in combating this most pressing and complex type of crime."

The Russian Prosecutor General praised the Office, headed by Ghada Waly, for its contribution to maintaining a focus on fulfilling its law enforcement mandate in a depoliticized manner and ensuring compliance with relevant UN conventions.

"The Russian supervisory agency has an exceptionally positive history of communication with this Office," noted Aleksandr Gutsan. "Our experts regularly participate directly in events organized by the UNODC."

Separately, the Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized the close and fruitful cooperation between the Office and the Russian side during international events within the framework of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption and expressed hope for a productive forum session in Doha in December of this year.

During the meeting, Aleksandr Gutsan addressed the current problem of returning illegally acquired assets from abroad. He also noted that politicization persists in the review of relevant applications by competent authorities in certain countries.

In conclusion, the Russian Prosecutor General reaffirmed his commitment to further developing constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
