A meeting of the Working Group of the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Mongolia was held in Irkutsk

Today, on June 5, 2023, in the Irkutsk Region, a Third Meeting of the Working Group on Exchange of  Information on Environmental Offenses and Crimes, which was formed within the framework of the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Mongolia, was held on the issues of legal protection of the environment in the Selenga River Area and the Lake Baikal.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Valery Petrov, Deputy Prosecutor General of Mongolia Maxim Chinbat, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Supervision over Compliance with Federal Laws of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia Anton Golovin, Head of the Division of Supervision over Compliance with Laws in the Environmental Sphere of the said General Department Evgeny Nadyrshin, officials of the specialized units of the Prosecutor’s Offices of Russia and Mongolia, environmental and regional prosecutors.

The sides exchanged new experiences of the supervisory activity in the environmental field, including of the protection of the atmospheric air, water and water biological resources, prevention and countering offenses and crimes in the area of forest management, compensation for damage caused to the components of the natural environment.

In addition, during the group’s work, in accordance with the earlier achieved agreement, a familiarization with the organization of the work of the Baikal Interregional Environmental Prosecutor’s Office was done.

The joint activity with the aim of conservation of the landscape and biological diversity of the Selenga River Basin and the Lake Baikal, as well as the exchange of information continue.
