The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov met with the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court of the Arab Republic of Egypt Boulos Fahmy in Cairo today.
In the course of the event, Igor Krasnov thanked Boulos Fahmy for the hospitality and warm welcome to the Russian delegation.
“Our countries’ relations have been developing for 80 years, and their today’s high level is a result of the policy built by the Presidents of Russia and Egypt and based on friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation,” the Prosecutor General of Russia stressed. “This is certainly the case of the Russian-Egyptian interaction in the legal sphere.”
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation said that a judicial and investigative practice has developed in Russia in many relevant categories of crimes, such as terrorism, extremism and their financing, laundering proceeds of crime, and drug trafficking, including with the use of virtual assets. He expressed readiness of the Russian party to share it, as well as interest in learning from the relevant experience of the Egyptian law enforcement and judicial authorities.
“I know that you have a rich legal practice, including in high-level positions in the Public Prosecution Office of Egypt,” Igor Krasnov said. “You are a well-known specialist and prominent scientist in the legal sphere. Therefore, it will be very interesting to exchange views on topical issues of mutual interest, including the sphere of protection of rights and freedoms of citizens, and countering corruption.”
The head of the Russian supervisory agency informed of work of the University in the structure of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia which not only carries out educational activity, but also conducts extensive researches on legal issues and has its own scientific publications. “I am sure that it is another promising direction of cooperation of our agencies to which we are fully open,” Igor Krasnov noted.
