The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation came to Cairo for the first time to discuss questions of bilateral cooperation. The visit of the delegation headed by Igor Krasnov took place at the invitation of the Prosecutor General of the Arab Republic of Egypt Hamada El Sawy. Within the framework of the visit, negotiations are planned with the Egyptian colleague and other officials.
The cooperation of the Russian and Egyptian supervisory agencies is actively developing. In particular, a meeting of the Prosecutors General of Russia and Egypt took place in Saint Petersburg in June 2022. Hamada El Sawy came at the invitation of the Russian colleague to take part in the XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. During that meeting, the Program of Cooperation for 2022-2024 was signed between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Public Prosecution Office of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Within the framework of its implementation, in Moscow and Cairo, round tables were held on countering cybercrimes and illegal use of virtual currency, protection of the rights of entrepreneurs. An Egyptian delegation is to come to Moscow for discussion of the questions countering terrorism and extremism.
In addition, expert-level events are held, as well as meetings of the heads of divisions of the prosecution services of Russia and Egypt. For instance, in 2021, there were consultations of the heads of the international divisions via videoconference. In 2022, in Cairo, our representative took part in consultations concerning the work on a universal convention on countering the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes. A working meeting was held with the Head of the Departments of International Cooperation and Human Rights Protection of the Public Prosecution Office of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
