On May 16, 2023, the Russian-Azerbaijani round tables were held at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation on the issues of supervising the compliance with laws on the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs and countering offenses in the field of environmental resources management.
The holding of these events was organized in pursuance of paragraph 4 of the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2021-2023.
It was no coincidence that the issues of supervisory activities for protection of the rights of business entities were in the focus of attention of the participants of the event. Both in Russia and Azerbaijan, this area of work is one of the most relevant due to the special significance and constant expansion of the private sector of the economy, the growth of budget revenues from business income and self-employment of a significant part of the population of both countries.
Russian experts also spoke about the practice of countering corruption in cooperation with controlling authorities and about protecting the rights of entrepreneurs in criminal proceedings.
During the round table on environmental issues, Russian and Azerbaijani partners shared their experience and best practices for identifying and suppressing violations of environmental legislation, as well as compensation for damage caused.
The participants highly appreciated the results of the meeting; the Azerbaijani partners thanked their Russian colleagues for the complete coverage of the above topics and professional approaches to prosecutorial activities, and agreed to continue further contacts in this format.
