Today in Moscow, Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, has met with Seyed Ahmad Mortazavi Moghaddam, President of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation cooperates with representatives of the competent authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran both in the course of bilateral contacts and at the sites of international multilateral events, in particular, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Prosecutor Generals of Russia and Iran meet regularly to discuss topical issues in combating cross-border crime. The Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Islamic Republic of Iran for 2023-2025 is being implemented. Moreover, in 2022, the prosecutor's offices of the two countries created a working group for combating crime, which is successfully functioning.

Welcoming his foreign colleague, Igor Krasnov drew attention to the intensive development of Russian-Iranian cooperation in many areas, which is facilitated by trusting relations between the leaders of the two countries, creating the basis for deepening contacts, including in the field of law enforcement and judicial cooperation.

The head of the Russian supervisory agency noted that in December last year, during his visit to Tehran, a number of joint documents were signed with the Prosecutor-General and the Head of the Iranian General Inspection Organization on expanding mutually beneficial ties, on exchanging experience in combating crime and supervisory activity. A productive meeting was also held with the Head of the Iranian Judiciary.

Within the framework of this visit, the heads of departments of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia shared the best prosecutorial practices with their colleagues from Iran during a round table organized at the University of Judicial Sciences.

Igor Krasnov expressed confidence in the importance of developing this line of relations, establishing strong ties between the University of Judicial Sciences of Iran and the University of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

The Prosecutor General of Russia suggested exchanging experience, including concerning overcoming problems, which for Russia and Iran, obviously, are of a similar nature, since they are created purposefully, in fact, by the same people.

“In this regard, I would like to note that, in my opinion, effective legislation and law enforcement practice have been formed in Russia to counter the attempts of Western structures to interfere in our internal affairs, to destabilize the economic situation, public peace,” Igor Krasnov said.

He said that last year alone, in full compliance with the law, on the basis of the suits of prosecutors, 23 foreign and international non-governmental organizations were declared undesirable by the courts, the activities of another 17 recognized as extremist and terrorist were completely prohibited. At the requests of the prosecutor's office, more than 180,000 Internet pages containing publications with illegal content were blocked. "Of course, there are other areas of mutual interest," the Prosecutor General of Russia noted.

In conclusion, Igor Krasnov expressed his conviction that today's meeting would be the starting point for establishing close fruitful contacts between the two agencies. He wished Seyed Ahmad Mortazavi Moghaddam, all employees of the judiciary, as well as the people of Iran, peace and prosperity.
