Today, May 19, 2015, a seminar was held under the Programme of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Serbia for 2015-2016, on the topic: The Structure and Objectives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Serbia, the Powers of Prosecutors in Russia and Serbia.
The meeting was chaired by the Acting Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Buksman and the Deputy Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Serbia, Snežana Marković, head of the Serbian delegation. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the General Department of Organization and Analysis, the General Department of International Legal Cooperation, the General Personnel Department and the Scientific and Educational Institute of the Academy of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, and also various departments of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Serbia.
While sharing their experiences, the parties discussed specific details of the Russian laws regulating the issues of extradition and legal assistance.
Separate talks were held on the powers and organization of work at prosecution bodies in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia.
The participants in the seminar shared their best practices in combating corruption-related crime and discussed the main activities of the prosecution authorities of both countries in preventing corruption.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the seminar would help to increase the efficiency of the activities of the prosecution services in Russia and Serbia in combating crime and the protection of human rights and freedoms.
