The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka is currently on a working visit to Havana (the Republic of Cuba).
During his visit he met with the the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Cuba Dario Delgado Cura.
Welcoming the guest, Yury Chayka noticed that Russia and Cuba have friendly relations based on mutual interest in strengthening international security and strategic partnership.
For development of signed in 2011 inter-institutional agreement on cooperation, implementation on the basis of that of 24 Russian-Cuban measures, heads of institutions signed the Cooperation Program between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Cuba for 2015 - 2016. The document provides for holding several seminars for the purpose of sharing experiences and advanced training of prosecution authorities staff of both countries. For instance, in March 2015 in Havana a seminar on cooperation between the prosecution authorities and media in order to impove legal awareness of citizens and prevent wrongs and crimes will be held.
In May 2016 in Moscow it is planned to hold a seminar on the improvement of criminal and criminal procedure legislation of Russia and Cuba. In addition, the parties agreed to share institutional and scientific publications, as well as educational materials for the main areas of activities of prosecution authorities and agencies of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cuba. The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation emphasised that, following the implementation of program measures, the Russian and Cuban prosecutors will be able to share their valuable experience on solving daily problems, that undoubtedly will increase the efficiency of work in the field of protection of human rights and crime prevention.
The Prosecutor General of the Repiblic of Cuba Dario Delgado Cura noticed that the friendship between our institutions and between our nations over the years only grows stronger.
Cuba and Russia are historically connected and that assistance provided to the Republic by the Soviet Union and now by the Russian Federation is very much appreciated by the Cuban government and citizens of Cuba.
Dario Delgado Cura mentioned that the Prosecutor' Office of the Russian Federation makes very significant conrtibution to strengthening the relationships between two countries.
He gratituded Yury Chayka for already provided by Russia assistance in training of staff for prosecution authorities of the Republic of Cuba.
He also expressed confidence that our relations will only develop and grow strong.
